Testimonials

“Insightful, inspiring, innovative, informal and relatable”

“The workshop provided a helpful (and rare!) introduction to what strategic work looks like, and validated for me that much of the creative work I'd already been doing could be described as strategy, a term I hadn't applied previously.”

"This was good fun, thank you for sharing so generously. Nice to understand your approach.”

“10/10 amazing. It was great to understand the strategic mechanics of Nemesis's approach to strategy.”

“A fun and dense reminder of the meaning of strategy in times when real possibilities seem tactical only.”

"I really enjoyed spending my Sundays learning something new. The workshop has a good combination of theory + creative stimulation. It conveys in a very interesting way how theory combined with intuition and creativity are one of human's best tools. Emily is a great speaker who provided us with some of her tools and processes while remarking they should serve a bigger purpose and not the other way around."

“It was great to engage in a well structured strategy workshop that outlined Nemesis strategy fundamentals. There was a lot of information presented concisely and I really appreciated the application activities.”

“I'm currently working on a new position and have to build a new Strategy framework for my agency. This workshop gave me the tools to create a new organizing culture.”

“It was fantastic in that the material was presented casually, yet purposefully; it felt relevant to anyone at any stage in their career or practice or even in their understanding of various methodologies or subjects. I walked away feeling like I wanted to learn more.”

"A fearless look over the shoulder of two sui generis strategists. A rare combination of practical, thought-provoking, and fun. Not just the tools and approaches to meet this weird moment, but also the mindsets and strategies to avoid confusion and delusion, which will last long after the tech evolves. Above all, a reminder that strategy is a creative act, one to protect from urgency and nourish with fun."

“This was a great opportunity to learn about strategy and AI, as well as connect with a very culturally aware, engaged group of practitioners”

"The workshop was fun and fruitful. I especially enjoyed the structure and how Emily and Martti were able to organize the work we do as strategists! That’s one of my main takeaways from the workshop—not necessarily how to make good ideas, but rather how to leverage them and communicate them effectively to diverse audiences.”

“The introduction to some AI tools was useful, but what stood out more to me were the frameworks Emily proposed, from general research to ideation. It’s just really great to listen to Emily, she’s super cool and smart.”

“I really appreciate your discerning sharpness mixed with ebullient enthusiasm. Your joy for process, sharing, and encouragement is a tonic to anchor knowledge and creativity we already are working from, while recalibrating in this messy and mean time.”

“I really enjoyed it! I am a beginner but really appreciated all the tools, openness, and high quality of the presentations. I felt the creativity and intuition was my least favorite workshop, but that's maybe because it's where I already have the most experience. Overall I found it really inspiring and I learned a lot -- thank you!”

“Interesting to see the use of AI tools, both for generating and backfilling intuitions. Lots of useful references shared, and the actual doing of the writing & image gathering exercises was great.”

"I love your approach to presentation writing and strategy, and am so appreciative of how generous you have been with your approach.”

"I'm so glad I followed my impulsive desire to take this workshop! Going in, I wasn't sure how much of the material would be familiar and how much would be outside the realm of how I work. It ended up being a delightful mix of both, and I left every session feeling energized and excited about strategy.”

"I really appreciate your discerning sharpness mixed with ebullient enthusiasm. Your joy for process, sharing, and encouragement is a tonic to anchor knowledge and creativity we already are working from, while recalibrating in this messy and mean time."

“It was a good experience to learn and see parallels between my practice and NEMESIS one, I was able to relearn some things with a stronger base.”

“Amazing! I was looking for something to help with our rebrand direction and this was perfect.”

“Highly effective at both giving me an adaptable framework to think about strategy, and at actually changing and improving my personal creative habits.”

“I've enjoyed the experience a lot, thank you for your generosity in giving us an insight on your process and tools.”

“I'm really glad I signed up!”

“Emily and Martti were really generous with everything they shared, from walking us through how a project could go from start to finish, to sharing helpful tools and methods to use during the strategy process. The sessions were super informative and gave me a lot of energy to tweak parts of my working process and also to think of AI as more of a creative partner. Recommend also for Emily's relaxed, conversational, clear presentations, she shares a lot but it never feels too overwhelming.”

“I've taken a few other workshops or sessions with other top studios/agencies/individuals that were in the top 2 of those sessions. Appreciate the candid nature of the workshops and generousity in sharing the Nemesis process. Had some immediate take-aways that I could apply to my own process.”

“The Autonomous Strategy workshop was thoughtful and exciting. I appreciated the balance of Emily & the group both philosophizing around the future of generative AI in a creative/ commercial space as well as the presentation of some grounded, actual tools to play with.”

“I have a pretty dry corporate job working with AI, and I'm starting grad school in the fall in a more creative discipline. I signed up for this workshop without a lot of specific expectations, but hoping to bridge these two worlds in a way that would help me feel more optimistic, or at least less doomed, about the future. I didn't expect the rich creative learning experience that I got in the relatively short time we had, and it's a very adult kind of creative experience, one about intellectual rigor and commerce as much as curiosity and expression. Made me feel significantly less cynical.”

“I had a good experience overall! The 'creative intuition' session really resonated with me during a period of time where I've been feeling disconnected with my practice. The exercises and recommendations/advice were fantastic and it would've been cool to have even more, if possible. I do wish the price point was a little more accessible or the workshop times were a little longer (either/or).”

“I found it very useful, both in terms of approach and the tools you introduced. Attending from an artist’s perspective was sometimes challenging since I am essentially my own client—doing strategy for myself can be a bit tricky. But it was great to gain that perspective, and I will apply it to improve how I work with others on strategy and communication.”

"I loved it. The autonomous strategy session on Sunday and the Severance episode on friday were the 2 entertainment contents I was waiting for the most for the last weeks :)”

“I'm a creative director and I don't know a lot about strategy. But I've been super curious about it for some time so it was a great reset on all things strategy. Plus it was interesting to discover original ways of using AI that is not a better Google or image generation (how I use it mostly). I also liked that you spoke about productivity tricks (the ""neutral time concept"" is a nice way to have the right to chill)."

“It's honestly been really insightful. The practical stuff (tools, exercises, walkthroughs) was great, of course. It was also inspiring to hear and see Emily and Martti present and engage with each other. You two were so chill, casual, also open to learning. Thanks for showing us all that strategy isn't about being the smartest or most intimidating person in the room—just the most curious. :)”

“Eye-opening and enlightening!”

“It's been really cool, Emily is very engaging, I learned some new tools and methods”

“This workshop has been everything I had hoped for and much more. It's been educational,  inspiring, and also somewhat alarming in the sense that we are blazing into a new generation of technology and language that we may not be applying enough attention to. The unique approach to utilizing these new tools has really helped open my eyes.”

“The four sessions were super efficient and fast paced, just as I was expecting them to be. I appreciated the super hands-on experiences and best practices that were shared, mixing both tech (mostly ai tools) and more creative approaches utilized in strategy work. A sufficient amount of time was reserved for really interactive Q&A's was essential in hashing out some of these approaches.”

“The workshop was fantastic, thank you Emily and Martti! Something I loved about the workshop was how it approached brand strategy from a conceptual level - what is brand? what is strategy? - rather than simply walking through the more tactical process of implementation. The AI workflow you highlighted was super helpful - really cool to see how you incorporated these tools into your process.”

“Extremely interesting, I was impressed by Emily's clarity and I truly appreciate the generosity behind sharing such insight into Nemesis' work. Above all, it was the honesty that I appreciated the most.”

“It's been restorative. Strategy Imposter Syndrome has been wearing me down lately, and this workshop has allowed me to take a step back and see what I do (and how I do it) in a new way, while also giving me new tools and new ways to think about strategy and intuition. It was a helpful reminder that yes, strategy work is still *work*, but it doesn't have to be repetitive or dull (which I think is what leads to Strategy Imposter Syndrome for me).”

“I learned several things about AI strategy that I immediately implemented in my work. Also helpful to learn more about your process from 10k feet.”

“I've been so curious about how to "do" strategy, and I loved the workshop for introducing the practical elements. And also emphasizing how creative and fun it is!”

“It gave me tools to use immediately in my work process, and more importantly, gave me excitement towards Ai as a creative and in the industry in general. The experience was a boost!  Thank You.”

“Zero BS, full-on heart. Besides confirming my suspicion of being good people, Emily and Martti’s approach to strategy perfectly affirmed personal practices. Yes to intuition and inquiry, unusual connections, and uncommon sense! Absent dry industry jargon; rather genuine, clear, concise, and perfectly curious, thank you very much. A joy through and through”

“thank you, I loved it – a deeply humanizing and expansive view of the strategy/creative process I loved the workshop. It was both inspiring and made me realize again why I love strategy so much. i've definitely started using some of the tools and what was discussed in my work.”

“I love the way the sessions transition from functional know-how content to more abstract content. You will always leave the sessions feeling very fulfilled and you will always learn new things!”

“Extremely insightful and interesting look into strategy and how it's changing. I walked away feeling like I had many more tools in my toolbox to keep pushing my work technically and creatively. I'm feeling more confident in not just using AI in my work but in knowing its place in my work.”

“I had a really good experience. I really enjoyed learning about the different 'toolkits' used to come up with a strategy. I got a good understanding of the 'how'. I also think it was an incredibly cool group judging from the ARE.NAs put together.”

"First of all, thank you for organizing this workshop. It felt like a crucial moment to come together, bring our strategic disciplines into dialogue, and recalibrate - where we come from, what we’re facing now, and how this could redefine not just our role, but the services we provide. It reminded me of how far we’ve already come, grounded in a deep foundation of expertise and intuition."

Rather than feeling threatened by AI, it made me feel more confident: that we can grow even smarter by sharpening our tools and rhetoric to better harness our intuitive strengths. I see this as just the beginning - both of an ongoing discourse among kindred minds, and of a new era that calls for collective understanding rather than competitive isolation or panic over losing our human edge.

Secondly, thank you for the thorough insight into the Nemesis approach to strategy. It felt very generous and inspiring.

Lastly, I really appreciated the focused deep dive into selected tools. Flora is super cool! It helped cut through the noise and clarified how we can move forward with care + choice. Though there are still so many more details to crack when it comes to all those tools!"

“This is a fantastic workshop to unlock creativity and see strategy from a different perspective, all information is mind blowing and even the small tips will change your entire career.”

“I wasn't sure at first if this was going to be beneficial for me but I have to say that I've learned so much about the whole AI stuff that my head is spinning. I love that I have so many tools at my disposal to create concepts and strategies for my brand and the side projects I'm working on. I feel supercharged!”

“It was great, but the part about it that was great that I didn't really expect was the community it brought together. The teachings were also cool, but it was interesting to see old friends, make new friends and be able to have conversations offline with my cohort about the things we were learning and discussing.”

“Really phenomenal workshop. Nemesis has a way of working at the intersection of a bunch of different disciplines and they bring that same multidisciplinary approach to working with AI at these very early stages.”

“Really useful and timely. Still absorbing everything, but I've already got more interesting results using the tools and methods we covered than I had previously. Feel much more positive about the potential of using these tools to rise above the slop as a result. Also, would just like to thank you both for being so open and generous with your process - feels pretty rare and special for you to give away so much, but the workshop was *so* much more useful because of it.”

"Well-paced overviews of select NEMESIS strategy tactics. Emily: I appreciate your thoughtful and effective use of language, and also your confidence in educating.”

“Loved it, I got the confidence back in knowledge as a strategist and it challenged me to think differently, push my ideas and get weird.”

“If you’re looking for a clear, well-paced place to sharpen strategy skills and meet smart people who actually want to share ideas, Autonomous Strategy Lab delivers. Each session begins with sharp, no-fluff presentations clearly drawn from years of experience—insightful, practical, and grounded in what matters. Threading quick-fire exercises through each session kept the whole thing alive and made being on Zoom and getting homework genuinely fun. Massive thanks to Emily and Martti for building a container that’s structured enough to focus but loose enough to surprise and delight.”

“I took the Nemesis Workshop during the busiest time of my year — and I still wouldn’t have missed it for anything. I had a great time, learned so much, and came out feeling inspired. Do more workshops, please! I’ll be there even if Mercury’s in retrograde and my inbox is on fire.”

“I don't work in strategy, but I do need to propose ideas and create successful products for my clients. I took this class because I find how Nemesis processes information and communicates ideas fascinating. They have a unique tone of voice, often cutting through the noise or leaving you thinking and searching for more. It's a very empowering way to work with knowledge. I feel like I understand a little more about that world and have a little more confidence in my reading of the room and voice.”

“I signed up for this workshop as a cultural writer and a strategy ‘outsider’, wanting to understand more about the world of strategy, and how to tap into it in my own work. From previous work experience, strategy has always been very wishy washy or extremely bland, and based on following your work over the years, I knew the workshop would provide me with the opposite — which it really did. There was a good balance between the no bullshit, straight-forward advice, and a sense of playfulness which made it so interesting and useful. I found the challenges to be really good for organizing my ideas/mind, as well as to understand strategy per se. I also had a lot more fun than anticipated! A big bonus was the Telegram chat and the community that emerged in the group. I hope the chat will keep running and maybe turn into something more.”

"Honestly, amazing.

You guys are total geniuses, and you both think in such interesting ways, and have been a real inspiration to so many of us. And like all geniuses, your ways of working are mysterious – even / especially to those of us who know you personally, and regard you as friends.

So I signed up, and looked forward to it. And would have been easy to give us a rundown of the rules of strategy, while keeping your actual work behind closed doors: that's what I expected, and would have been very pleased with. But rather than a straight-foward lesson, you shared your process. Rather than just tell us how to do it, you opened out your work.

When I started this process, I wanted to understand what this strange practice called "strategy" actually is. It felt like a good idea, after years of being called a strategist. Strategy is, after all, a grey-zone discipline, with black-box processes, and NDA'd outputs. But, to see how clear your structures are, and how straight-forward your working process is, made me all the more in awe of you guys.

"I found the workshop inspiring, thought-provoking and helpful in evolving my ways of thinking, even though I am not technically a strategist. You even managed to make deckcraft fun and funny. I am really glad that I signed up for this. It was amazing! I loved every session. Thank you so much for doing it.”

“It was a great convening of people who I felt were openly supportive of one another's creative development in a generous environment for thinking and learning created by Nemesis. I felt that they split the difference between a variety of teaching styles in a way that made the workshop genuinely engaging—much more so than any university pedagogy. It didn't feel like learning was being "facilitated," which is remarkable. If Nemesis doesn't in fact "know what they're doing" at all, I'm on board with it!”

“This was my third installment from the Nemesis Autonomous Strategy series, and I cannot emphasize enough the level of detail and integrity that goes into these workshops. From the presentations to the challenges and the roundtable discussions that follow each session, there wasn't a moment when I didn't feel inspired and motivated. Emily and Martti are both seasoned professionals and gracious hosts. I look forward to the next adventure.”

“I really needed this lab in my life. Listening to Emily present and break down Nemesis processes somehow makes even the most mundane things—like "A Deck"—feel intellectual, artistic, and genuinely fun. ASL always brings up these unexpected references; it’s such a breath of fresh air, especially if you’re feeling overwhelmed by the usual LinkedIn or TikTok noise. The vibe is like stepping onto the coolest campus, except it’s all happening on Zoom and Telegram. The people taking the class are top-notch, too—bonus points for meeting seriously smart and interesting folks. You can feel a real community forming here.”

"Emily and Martti have the unique ability to consistently create advantage in an impossibly chaotic operating environment. Their workshops introduce the frameworks, perspectives, and rituals that have earned them a place as indispensable cultural interpreters and guides to some of the world’s most visionary founders, companies, and investors.”

"I did the previous strategy workshop, and parts of the lab felt like a real step forward in applying the processes we’d covered, especially the first challenge. I’ve felt genuinely stretched, and had to push myself hard at times, but I’m coming out of it excited to start applying what I’ve learned in my own practice. In both workshops, I really appreciated that you weren’t selling some kind of branded proprietary ‘system’. There’s a clarity and directness to everything that feels refreshing in a field not always known for that."

“This workshop exceeded all of my expectations, which were quite high to begin with after taking the first ASL workshop. I'm a career strategist, so my main interest in taking both ASL workshops was to step away from the day-to-day demands of client work and spend time with people who think critically and/or differently about strategy. Every session was invigorating and challenging, but always relevant to my practical experience. I loved getting to spend time with the other workshop participants and collaborate on the various exercises together. The assignments were all so thought-provoking, and being able to share them with other people and see the myriad ways we all approached the same prompt was so exciting.”

“Getting a peek behind the big brains at Nemesis was refreshing and invaluable – their sense of taste, strong opinions, practical tools and open-minded nature made the course feel at once constructive and freeing, considered and zany, intellectual and off-beat. It's the first course I've done where I actually feel like it's for the smart, culturally tapped in, thoughtful folk rather than a dry, corporate and out-of-date riff on shit like Simon Sinek's "Why". They've been called an "'alternate' consultancy" (scare quotes necessary) – I'd say this course was an 'alternative' strategy course (scare quotes encouraged) for those that want to think differently about strategy outside of traditional modes.”

“Emily and Martti are some of the best and brightest minds we are lucky enough to have access to— and get to learn from (!). On top of that, they’re as generous (intellectually and spiritually), warm, responsive, and open as a participant could ask for. The class has been an unparalleled opportunity to engage with simultaneously like-minded and unique minds from around the world who all just ‘get it.’ My only complaint is that it ended so soon. (Not to worry tho, it was brilliantly paced: there was not a minute wasted despite every class always feeling incredibly chill.) Truly tysm for a class that honestly seems too cool/good/special to exist in the world today :,)”

“You’ve created a wonderful environment for people to nourish their playful, imaginative, and weird energy. I’ve raved about this workshop to other strategists. Take the opportunity to invest in your creative voice! You’ll thank yourself.”

“Helped me shift my thinking at a foundational level to be more open to my own ideas in addition to providing tools and techniques that have had tangible impacts on my creative production. Inspiring, motivational and thought-provoking.”
